The UNINTELLIGENCE Story
Adversarial intelligence collection is the bane of Counterintelligence - the discipline charged with preventing it. CI is the opposite of Intelligence in matters of security. One may even say, CI is UnIntelligence embodied.
If you’ve ever practiced CI, you’ll know that the organizations responsible for CI missions are mostly never prepared for dealing with the real-world threats that overmatch small security teams. Any sort of bureaucracy thwarts even modest results. Any careerism steps all over the mission. Any failures can result in rescinded team charters. Any successes are difficult to quantify to bean counters. As such, as a happily cynical side joke, UnIntelligence has come refer to the CI discipline’s thousands of tasks that have nothing to do with the mission.
Over the last 20 years I have spent within counterintelligence and insider threat spaces, I learned that the truth is usually a combination of unexpected factors. Over hundreds of cases, some investigative subjects were guilty. Others weren’t. Others were involved in misconduct, but not for the original reasons expected.
Founded in January 2023, the show brings diverse experience from the fields of counterintelligence, risk reduction, human risk management, counter-fraud, asset protection, data science, information security, cybersecurity, supply chain risk management, national security investigations, and intelligence analysis.
The last two years have brought us an enlivened national conversation around illicit technology transfer, insider risk, and enterprise risk detection technologies. Matthew and I hope you enjoy the conversations we’re having with thought leaders in various markets around the world on these topics.
We look forward to serving you.
